Walter as an adult.
Walter is a minor character who appeared in various flashbacks in Dragonheart 4: Battle for the Heartfire. He was the only son and child of his parents, Gareth and Rhonu, the rulers of Britannia.
Biography[]
Walter was born as the son of King Gareth and Queen Rhonu of Britannia, and was normally the heir to the throne. When he was young, he was not as interested in becoming a knight like his father, only having an interest in wood carving, but even so, his father loved him. However due to his royal duties as king, and at the same helping Drago raise seven dragons to maturity was taking more time than Walter wanted, so he adapted to the Celtic independence of his mother. He had a happy relationship with her until one tragic day when the dragon, with which Rhonu was bonded with, died when he was struck by lightning. Walter quickly enters his mother's bedchamber and sees her die before his own eyes.
Devastated by the loss of his mother, Walter became disillusioned with dragons and decided to leave the kingdom and abandon his future throne. Drago, who witnessed Walter leaving, tried to stop him, but the boy quickly kept him away with a dagger saying that dragons have done nothing more than take away what was wanted. Drago, knowing what he was feeling at the fact that Gareth never had time for him, stayed quiet and did not follow Walter when he left. His father and Drago searched for him several times, but he was never found.
Several years later, Walter, already an adult, met his wife and married her at an unknown point in time. She soon became pregnant and gave birth to twins named Edric and Mehgan, and she died soon after. To the displeasure of Walter, he received news from the nurse that his children were marked to what Walter recognized are dragon scales. The boy, Edric, had them on his back while the girl, Meghan, had them on her face. Walter quickly took his two children with him and went to live in the deepest part of the forest, somewhere that is far away from his father's castle. He then raised Edric and Meghan with love, but still had a dislike for the marks they bore..
Twenty years later, Walter's children are now fully-grown and both soon discovered that they have impressive abilities: Edric has superhuman strength while Mehgan has Pyrokinesis, the ability to control fire. When Mehgan showed her powers to her father, Walter was not happy with it and called her "dirty blood" to the draconic blood, which runs through the veins of his two children, and did not like the fact that his daughter believed that her power is a blessing.
One day Walter sent Mehgan into hiding after he learned that someone caught Mehgan her with her powers and now called her a witch. He then began preparing to leave. When his son, Edric, arrived with good news, Walter orders him to pack up his things and that they are going to the mountains. He also tells his son the news of his sister. When Edric tells his father that he cannot go, because he will be a sheriff for Earl Robert Cole, Walter responded back by slapping him and told him that he will do what he says. This caused Edric to get angry with his father and turns to leave. When Walter tries to stop him Edric pushes his father away, and without realizing it, Walter was pierced by a metal hook, causing him to slowly die but not without seeing his daughter and caressing her face one last time before dying. His body was then burned along with the house by Mehgan, so that she could take the blame for his death and she kept the truth a secret from her brother so that he could continue living a good life.
Days after Walter's death, his father, King Gareth, would then die by old age and his friend, Drago, will then survive. When he sensed that he is now connected with someone else, he immediately flew off to find the person he is now connected, in which he then came across Edric, whom he discovered is the son of the late Walter. However, Edric then later reveal his sister's existence to Drago, after the dragon discovered that his bond with Edric is partial. After Edric and Meghan had a sibling rivalry over the throne and are forced to fight each other by Drago, Meghan then tells her brother the truth about the death of their father and that he was responsible for it. Edric's learning of the truth is what leads them to reconcile.

Walter in his youth was a quiet young man who had a bad childhood, due the fact that his father, King Gareth, did not have much time for him and when his mother died, Walter became disillusioned with dragons and started to hate them and everything related to it
In his adulthood Walter loved his two children but hated the draconic blood that ran through their veins. Walter was protective of his children as he hid his daughter Meghan from the villagers so that she wouldn't be killed. However, When the villagers started calling her a witch, Walter was left with no choice but to gather up his things and prepare to flee with his two children to the mountains for their own safety, which unfortunately didn't happen as his son, Edric, unknowingly killed him, after he had a fight with his father.
